The ridge leading to Mount KRN 2244 Metres in Summer & Winter
Straddling Northern Italy and Slovenia the Julian Alps are at their most impressive in the Triglav National Park. Predominantly Limestone, Triglav sits at the centre of the park and is the highest peak in Slovenia. It is wild & rugged and the panoramic views from the summit are truly magnificent, the trek offers brilliant high level walking and climbing.
We start at the beautiful Soca valley in Tolmin where your Hotel is the KRN named after one of the fabulous peaks of the area. We can climb or hike Krn 2244 Metres in a day (long day but worthwhile) or we can stay at the Gomiscek mountain hut just below the summit and take a leisurely walk down the scenic route past the Krn Lake. 2 Days
A day White Water Rafting on the Emerald Green Soca River gives you a refreshing boost and then we prepare for Mt.Triglav Trek.

The three day backpacking trek starts in the Trenta Valley about 6 hours walk to reach our first mountain Refuge. We use the very good Alpine Club Hut system for accommodation and the Alpine hut the Dolic 2154 metres is our first nights stay. This takes us high in the mountains for our summit bid of Triglav the next day.
From the hut to the summit is two and a half hours, the walk and climb is on fixed wires and bars and is quite tricky in places. We descend down a knife edge ridge again fixed wires for safety along the ridge to the Planika Hut and stay overnight for a well earned rest before our return to the valleys by the seven glacial lakes this is the most scenic way down and abundant with flora and fauna and spectacular views. Transport will then take us to our hotel KRN in Tolmin.

Dave Orange will be your Trek Leader, a very experienced mountaineer with over 35 Worldwide expeditions, Dave reached 8,000 metres on the west ridge of Everest in 1988 without oxygen, he has been on ten expeditions to the Himalayas and climbing and mountaineering is his main passion in life.
June to Sept is the best time to visit. Groups of 10 - 16 is ideal and can be split into Walking and Climbing groups if required. For groups this size Pick your own dates.
